Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about growing up and how when I was a kid I knew about all kinds of foot paths. Often I would explore the old train tracks on foot or riding my bike throughout the valley.
Since moving to Halifax, really all I know are the roads I take daily, so I decided it was time for some exploring. Time to leave the well known path for some of the lesser known and unseen areas of Halifax.
Knowing there has to be some paths around just begging to be explored we decided to start out on the tracks and see where we could go.
Along the way I took a ton of pictures, and we some how ended up coming out by the rotary, but it was fun and we are looking forward to doing it again.
So Joey returned from New York for the weekend, and we had a little get together at my place. Which included all the necessities, beer, pizza, and Guitar Hero 2. Thanks to Kevin for bringing that along.
It was pretty fun, and I am not really into playing games. Unfortunately my ability to work my fingers in time to the music went out the window with each beer I drank. But it was still a blast.
Later that night, after all was said and done and I went to bed I woke up around 4:30AM with a pounding headache. But it was worth it.
I did it, I finally own a macbook. I’ve wanted a mac since the first time I laid my eyes on OSX. Mind you that was a long time ago. But I couldn’t really justify the cost, I still can’t but I did it anyway. And besides I needed a new laptop, as the Dell has seen far better days. There, thats justification enough!
Besides I was sick of XP and the whole eXPerience. I just can’t get over how crappy XP worked on the laptop. It was fairly obvious that laptop features and services were just an after thought. Its a shame really, given the size of microsoft. Of course I also realize apple only has to support their own hardware, which is bound to make it easier.
So apple has it easier when it comes to making my laptop go to sleep when I close the lid. But there is no excuse when it comes to UI features. OSX is rich with them. Simplifying tasks and looking good while doing it. This is where microsoft should shine, but they don’t. Which is sad considering the size and resources the company has at its finger tips. It might just be time to drop the old dos backend and start again fresh.
